From The Bride:
As far as vision for the wedding, we knew we wanted to get married on the beach. I had a vision of the colors I wanted and then confirmed it with a picture of KT Merry in a magazine :) I saw how the colors worked well together on the beach and then found the bridesmaid dresses in a casual, elegant style but in a blue I loved. Then Gordon designed the suits with his tailor and the colors fell into place. Gordon designed the suit from the shoes, shirts, pants and jackets. The handkerchief was custom made to match the bridesmaid’s dresses. It was done with much thought and sincerity on his part.
As we were shopping for invitations, we came across the peacock feather and thought the greens and blues of a peacock would work perfectly! They were introduced to the guests with the invitation and then used as accessories for the wedding and reception – the girls’ earrings, centerpieces, guest book, my mom’s shoes, groomsmen’s boutonnieres, ring-bearer pillow and flower girl basket, name and table cards and the real peacocks on display at the reception. They were everywhere!
The harpist is a family friend of mine. I have known her all of my life and her son used to baby sit me and my brother and sister! When she heard I was engaged she contacted my parents and offered to play in our wedding. When my mom brought to my attention that she had played in her wedding 36 years ago, I thought I would be honored to have her play in our wedding.
The car was found during an antique car show the weekend before our wedding! We stumbled upon it and left a note for the owners. Mr. Leher called Gordon the next day and offered to help us out. We got so lucky and could not have found a more perfect car!!!
I did all of the planning in my spare time and pulled it all together! Gordon was sick of it all but was a huge help throughout. The month before the wedding we worked together to get it all done without killing each other!
The weather cooperated in every way that I had dreamed and our photographer did a fantastic job of catching it all on camera. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!!! :)
